Providing Photography Education to ages 7-17. We offer a few different options To fit in with Your Program Activity design:

General Photography Classes

Photography, like most art forms, have guidelines and rules to them. Learning these guidelines will ensure the creation of great photography. At the same time, learning when to BREAK these rules can make for unforgettable photos. We have 2 main ways to get some of these techniques, through a group of lessons that build upon each other, or through an array of single day activities. All photography lessons feature fun, hands-on activities, using the provided cameras. These services can be provided in after-school hours, in school hours and/or during summer program.

KCC Ladder Structure

This lesson structure is similar to the typical school lesson curriculum, in which each class builds upon the last class, and builds a new skill to use in the world of photography. At the end of the 4-8 session course, your child will be able to understand the basics of using a professional camera. Great for after-school programs, school programs or small -group sessions who have the same select number of students enrolled every week/lesson.

A.

KCC A La Carte

This structure is great for introductions to photography to try to spark interest to kids who otherwise never taken a photo. Each class is a standalone lesson, meaning you can jump in with no knowledge of cameras and still participate. Great for organizations that have groups of kids that change every week, and for community programs that offer a educational service on a sign-up basis or a one-off activity.

B.

1:1 or SMall Group

Great if you have a child or group of children who are interested in being a photographer and want to get them started. Also great if you just want to introduce a new hobby and. don’t have access to professional cameras. This can be structured however you like, with whatever duration works for you, and however frequent.

C.

What will they learn?

Basics

Students will be able to identify various parts of a camera, while also having knowledge of using these tools through practical application. This includes how to take a photo, loading memory cards, power options, zooming and much more. Young professionals will also be able to point out focal lengths and using in-camera flash.

COMpOSITION

Of course we can teach the kids how to TAKE a picture, but how do you take a GOOD one? Composition is beautiful in that, its not about the technical aspects of a camera, but how you position your subjects in your photograph. We’ll show them all about angles, framing, cropping and other guidelines that professional photographers follow to create stunning photographs.

Lighting

Photography is literally drawing with light. Without light, you can’t take a photograph. It’s one of the most important and overlooked aspects when photographers are just starting out. We make sure our young camera crew definitely understands the importance of lighting. Students will also learn how to use lighting in various situations, utilizing different directional techniques. Our young crew will be light shaping subjects just like the pros!
